The roots of our department stretch back to 1914, beginning with the organization of our first Fire Company. As the community grew, so did our commitment to protection; in 1940, we officially organized as a Fire Department alongside Beverly Road, solidifying a partnership dedicated to public safety.

Throughout the decades, our station has been much more than a garage for engines. Our walls have a storied past, having served the community in various capacities, including:

A Wartime Hub: During WWII, the station was a critical center for the war effort, serving as a collection point for scrap metal and a production site for bandages.

A Community Center: Over the years, our building has housed a local school, a Sunday school, a neighborhood barber shop, and even the official offices for the Township Clerk.

While we embrace modern technology today, we remain deeply connected to our heritage. For years, the daily 5:00 PM siren served as a reliable heartbeat for the town—a tradition now retired but fondly remembered by generations of residents.

We are also the proud guardians of our 1957 Mack B Pumper. This beautifully maintained antique isn’t just a piece of machinery; it is a symbol of our history. While it no longer fights fires, it remains in active service for special community events and providing a final, honorable escort for fallen members.

From 1914 to today, our mission remains the same: Protecting our community while honoring the history that built us.

Our story began in 1925, born from a local need for dedicated protection. By 1927, the department acquired its very first apparatus, marking the start of a century-long commitment to fire suppression and public safety. A pivotal moment arrived in 1940 when we joined forces with the Independent Fire Co. to officially form the Burlington Fire Department, creating a unified front to serve our growing community.

While our primary mission has always been to protect lives and property, our station has historically served as the social anchor of the neighborhood. Our hall has echoed with the sounds of:

Community Spirit: Generations of neighbors have gathered here for bingo nights, legendary carnivals, community dinners, and vibrant dances.

The “Bristol Stomp”: Even when the “Bristol Stomp” dance craze took over, our floors held steady—not even the most enthusiastic dancing could stop the fun!

Fundraising: These events weren’t just social; they provided the vital support needed to keep our equipment ready and our firefighters trained.

When the world faced the challenges of World War II, our station stepped up as a pillar of home-front security. We served as a training ground for civilian defense, ensuring our residents were prepared for any emergency. In 1946, one of our proudest moments took place when we hosted a grand celebration to honor our returning servicemen, welcoming them home with the gratitude they deserved.

No history of our department is complete without mentioning our most iconic resident: The Blue Goose. This beloved piece of our heritage stands as a testament to our unique identity and the “amazing history” that continues to inspire our members today.

Since 1925, we have been more than just a fire department—we are a neighbor, a gathering place, and a lifeline to the community.

Since our organization and incorporation into the fire district in 1957, our station has been defined by fortitude and ingenuity. We have spent decades adapting to the evolving needs of our community, ensuring that as the landscape changed, our protection remained steadfast.

Our company has a proud history of providing the township with new and inventive ways for fire suppression. We were the first in the township to house an Aerial Ladder, a milestone that significantly enhanced our rescue capabilities. As technology advanced, we continued to innovate, becoming home to the first mounted ladder that replaced the original aerial, ensuring our firefighters always had the most effective tools for the job.

Today, we remain a pivotal company within the fire district. We pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to modern challenges while maintaining the grit and community-focused spirit that has driven us since 1957.

Standing tall since 1957—honoring our past by protecting our community’s future.
